To build trust in online shopping. The next decade will be all about finding a method to the madness. We want to be the ones who champion this change, not just for India, but also for the world. The single biggest factor that will differentiate what you buy from what you don’t is trust.
Thesis
In the last decade, India's online shopping scene has evolved dramatically, transitioning from early players like Flipkart and Amazon to a surge in direct-to-consumer (DTC) trends seen on shows like Shark Tank India in 2021. The shift to an abundance economy resulted in a plethora of choices, causing discovery issues, escalating costs, and sparking the CAC crisis with aggressive deep-discounting. Amidst this rapid online commerce growth and Western influence, the discerning "affluent Indian" now confronts decision paralysis.
Enter Sosh
we are not merely addressing superficial product features or hopping on the latest micro-trends. Our vision is to revolutionise the very essence of online shopping. Our first iteration of the product focuses on two key pillars: discoverability and trust, leveraging the power of reviews. But we’re not stopping there. Our ultimate goal is to create a shopping experience that is driven by a thriving community at its core, gradually weaving in layers of collaborative engagement.
Design philosophy
Product’s core design principle is to build for trust and enable discovery of products that are uniquely right for the customers. We achieved that by optimising for setting context in your shopping journey. We designed a unique shopping experience where you can shop with real experts. We studied other marketplaces and went 180 deg. in our approach where our north star metric was accuracy in decision making for customers. That means extremely order returns, high customer loyalty and a massive boost in retention.
